UFC 155 is finally here. It’s been a long 6 weeks since GSP manhandled Carlos Condit at UFC 154 and I am eager for another championship fight. Heavyweight fights are always entertaining with both men having knockout power and any punch a possible KO. Tonight we get to witness the best two heavyweight fighters on the planet battle it out for UFC Championship. Junior Dos Santos won the belt from Velasquez just over a year ago and Cain has spent the last year plotting how he is going to win it back.
Within the last year JDS easily defended his championship once, knocking out Frank Mir in the second round of a one-sided fight. Velasquez had to defeat Antonio Silva to regain his shot at the title and he did so with ease in the first round via TKO. Now the two are back for a rematch. Last year both fighters had knee injuries, but it didn’t stop them from getting in the cage. Now, with both fighters healthy it is round 2.

Predictions
First of all this fight isn’t going to go to a judges scorecard. Velasquez has fought in the UFC 9 times, only once going to a scorecard and that was in a 3 round fight. Dos Santos has gone to decision twice in 9 UFC fights, both in 3 round fights. I cannot see this fight going the distance with each fighters skills and knockout power.
The real question coming into this fight is will Velasquez be able to stay with JDS standing up. Was it a fluke that JDS kocked him out pretty easily last time and how much has to do with the knee injury. I think everyone will probably agree that JDS is better standing up than Velasquez. The question then becomes will Cain be able to take him down and really how good is JDS on his back if that happens. I personally don’t think we will see Cain take JDS down in this one because his takedown defense is just too good. This fight will stay standing for the most part and JDS will win via TKO.
