UFC 175 is by far the best PPV card that the UFC has put out in quite some time. There are two title fights on the card with the main even being Lyoto Machida facing Chris Weidman for the Middleweight belt. This is the first championship fight where Weidman has been considered the favourite by the oddsmakers, but he is still not a big favourite which leads me to think this is still a huge fight for him in terms of gaining respect of MMA fans. Ronda Rousey is also back to defend her Women’s bantamweight belt, this time against Alexis Davis. People are already counting out Davis, but I think she could put up a fight.
In my last post I went 1-1, because Swanson was unable to finish Stephens like I predicted. Kelvin Gastelum did come through for me though and kept the night completely even money wise.
2014 Record: 30-15 for +18.34 units.
Lyoto Machida vs Chris Weidman
This is an awesome main event and one that I am very much looking forward to. Lyoto Machida has ripped through Munoz and Mousasi in his two middleweight fights and many people think he has the ability to claim the title. I personally think that Weidman is still being overlooked based on the way both his victories over Anderson Silva ended. That said let’s not forget that Weidman was destroying Silva in their second fight before breaking his leg on a checked kick. Weidman has impressive wins over Munoz and Maia at this division as well and is still perfect in his MMA career. I expect Weidman to carry the action and get the better or Machida in this fight. Weidman is still young, hungry and has a lot to prove. I expect him to silence more doubters on Saturday.
Take Chris Weidman -185 @ BetOnline.
Alexis Davis vs Ronda Rousey
I expect Rousey to be simply too strong for Alexis Davis. Davis is coming off a split decision victory over Jessica Eye and Rousey will be far more strong and difficult to fight that her. After a hard fight with Miesha Tate that went 3 rounds, Rousey went back to winning quickly with a 1 minute victory over Sara McMann. I foresee another strong Rousey performance, but I expect her to go back to her bread and butter and get a submission victory over the Canadian.
Take Ronda Rousey by submission -260 @ 5Dimes.
Matt Mitrione vs Stefan Struve
I personally think Stefan Struve is overrated and I think Mitrione is a very dangerous heavyweight. Stuve was knocked out over a year ago by Mark Hunt and hasn’t fought since. His wins are really not that impressive and he has shown that he can be knocked out by heavy punchers. Mitrione falls into this category and I expect him to catch Struve with a big punch to knock out the skyscraper. This is a huge fight for Mitrione because a win could put him back into the rankings in the heavyweight division. At the moment Struve is ranked #12, while Mitrione is not in the rankings.
Take Matt Mitrione by knockout +230 @ 5Dimes.
Urijah Faber vs Alex Caceres
Faber is back in the octagon after watching his teammate TJ Dillashaw destroy Renan Barao and take the UFC bantamweight title a couple months back. You know that Faber will be eager to continue to prove that Team Alpha Male is the best at the lighter divisions. Faber has won every non title fight (there have been 3) that he’s had in the UFC! That’s pretty remarkable and it has kept him as a top contender throughout his career. Alex Caceres is ranked #11 in the division and the fighter is still relatively unknown after not beating too many high ranking fighters other than Sergio Pettis in his last fight. I expect Faber to impose his will and finish the fight before the final bell.
Take Urijah Faber inside distance -155 @ 5Dimes.
